  • Eye and skin irritation: Dust particles can cause redness, itching, and discomfort in the eyes and on exposed skin.


Woodworkers who spend hours daily in dusty environments without protection face the highest risks. Using dust masks and proper ventilation reduces exposure significantly.

  • Tool damage: Dust can clog machinery, reducing efficiency and causing breakdowns.

Woodworkers can take several actions to minimize the dangers of fine dust:


  • Wear a proper dust mask rated for fine particles (N95 or higher).

  • Use dust extraction systems on all power tools.

  • Keep the workshop well-ventilated with fans or air purifiers.

  • Clean surfaces regularly with a vacuum designed for fine dust.

  • Avoid dry sweeping, which stirs dust into the air.
